How to go green

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Research and personal experiences have taught us parents that so many of the baby products are not as harmless as we thought they were. A lot of findings have revealed that there are various side effects to most of the products we are accustomed to using. We all want what’s best for our kids which is why we give them only the best. That would only refer to one thing: Safe baby products.

For first-time parents who are only starting out to buy baby stuff, going green is simple. You simply go out and buy natural baby products. But for those parents that are already in the middle of the parenting stage where the baby kit is close to complete, going green should be taken one step at a time.

To make the shift from the normal baby stuff to nontoxic products, you can start by replacing the smaller things like pacifiers, bottles, etc. Natural bath products can also replace your old shampoos and soaps. These are hypo-allergenic products that even the most sensitive of skins can trust. By starting out small, you avoid overwhelming yourselves.

After which, you can move on to replacing your old baby sheets with organic cotton bedding for your babies’ sleeping pleasure.
Going green is an ongoing process. You must always be wary the next time you go shopping for baby products and make sure that what you are getting are safe ones. By using green products, you’ll have one organic baby in no time.

Safe Mattresses

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Babies spend almost all of their time sleeping. They probably only wake up to eat and are back to snoozing in no time. But that’s just normal. That’s how babies naturally are. The only thing you should probably worry about is the bed that they’re sleeping in. Is it safe? Are the materials used to produce it safe? Are natural products used? Most importantly, are they safe baby products?

If you already have a mattress, check out the materials used. Chances are, they contain synthetic materials that pose harmful threats to your baby’s safety. If they aren’t green products, you better think twice about using it. Unnecessary side effects and all other harmful toxins are the biggest threats and should be avoided at all costs.

In choosing a mattress for your babies’ crib, go for one that is made from organically grown cotton. Research has proven that it is safer and comfortable. Waterproof is also one criteria you would want to consider. It’s stain resistant and easy to clean. Compared to mattresses out in the market nowadays, always go for one that is phthalate free to avoid having any kind of side effects or disorders in the future. As your child is growing, you only want the best to ensure his full development and enhancement.
Together with other green baby products such as safe sippy cups, baby bottles, baby toys and all other necessary baby stuff, furniture should also be given importance. When it comes to your baby, only eco furniture will do.

Toys for the not-so-big boys

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

I was out looking for a perfect gift for my brother’s 3 year old son. He’s super cute, adorable and so full of energy you’d wonder where he is getting all of it. I wanted to give him a wonderful toy he can play with, enjoy and have a great time with. But I don’t want to give just any random toy in the mall. I have a specific criterion in mind. I wanted to buy one of those green toys.

This eco-truck caught my attention so bad that the next thing I knew, I’ve already bought it.

This toy is made out of natural products. It was created from a mixture of recycled plastic and reclaimed wood. Reclaimed woods are actually used woods that are taken and re-used for a different purpose. This toy is also paint-free, eliminating harmful chemicals that paints give off. Aside from being one of those green products, it also has the functionality that make it fun and excellent for kids to play with. Because they are not battery-operated, kids will have to manually maneuver and manipulate the truck and make it move according to their own desires. While my nephew is enjoying, his mind is slowly being developed.

I thought finding eco-friendly products would be a tough job. I thought I wouldn’t find nontoxic toys to give as a gift. I was proven wrong with this eco-truck. It tells us that there are still safe baby products out there. Now that is good news.

Safe Baby Products

Having a baby is not all cuddles and love. It’s a day to day activity that is both stressful and tiring. The what’s and how’s on parenting include what to feed him/her; what to make him/her wear; what to let him/her play with; how to know if what you’re giving him/her is 100% safe; how to be sure that you’re giving your babies your best. The list goes on. Parenting is an unsure business. You never expect to see the same results. But when you’re positive that what you’re giving him is out of harm’s way, all else will follow.

A lot of baby products are out in the market nowadays but not all of them are safe baby products. The safe one comes in green products and those that are phthalate free. Babies, even if they’re still young, can be exposed to harmful toxins that are present in the materials used to create baby products. No parent wants that. As much as possible they want to keep their babies safe and protected. Green baby products are produced without the toxins of any sort, fertilizers or any form of additives which makes them a better and healthier alternative for your young ones. Parents are assured of his health, his progress and development over time. All parents should go for the best alternative which will provide a safe haven for their kids.

Many baby products may claim to be non toxic products but you have to double check to make sure. When it comes to your baby’s health, nothing is more important.

For the sake of the environment and the health of our children, one should start using natural bath products and organic baby shampoo. Natural shampoo, clothing, food, soap and other things used in our daily life are best when they’re organic. We don’t need all the chemicals that big businesses have been advertising for so many years. When considering your child’s health, ask yourself if you want chemicals in your child’s hair and skin.
