Organic Baby Toys

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Organic Baby ToysOrganic products started out with parents wanting their children to have nontoxic things that are involved in the child’s daily needs, such as clothes and toys. Back in the day, before fertilizers and pesticides induced crops and children’s toys did not have phthalates and bisphenol A in them, wooden blocks and other toys were literally whittled from trees. Cotton was hand-woven by those who were not able to buy bulk material from a merchant and were dyed with fruits and other natural products used to color things.

Spinning cotton and whittling toys may be gone now, but the organic baby products are now coming back to the modern world. The elimination of plastics is one of the benefits of purchasing organic baby toys. The usual baby toys contain phthalates and this causes many health problems for children like hormone troubles, kidney and liver harm, cancer and asthma. The chemicals used to dye the toys are not worth the health of your baby.

Babies tend to put almost everything in their mouths and with organic baby toys, parents can relax because no harm will come to their child via unhealthy chemicals. Though they cost more than ordinary toys, it is best to invest on natural baby products for the safety of our children.

Organic Food Is More Nutritious For Babies

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Organic Baby ProductsOrganic baby products are the best choice that parents can make for their children. Organic food is also more nutritious for babies and toddlers because they are made without growth hormones, pesticides and antibiotics which are present in many conventional foods. Babies are more prone to be at risk of adverse reactions to toxins and artificial ingredients found in conventional foods. Fruits, vegetables and meats used to make conventional baby food are condensed and this causes pesticides and growth hormones to cluster. Because babies and toddlers are still developing, they are very vulnerable to damage that toxic residues cause.

Some parents are hesitant in going organic because of the higher cost. Most organic foods are more expensive compared to their conventional counterparts, but local farmers markets usually have grown organic produce and numerous retailers carry popular brands of organic foods at very reasonable prices. Along with purchasing organic baby food, many parents buy other green baby products for health and environmental benefits of their children.

Aside from buying organic food for their babies, adding cloth diapers and outfits that are made from organic cotton in your shopping list is suggested, since conventional clothes and diapers are known to contain harmful chemicals that can irritate the baby’s skin. As parents, spending a little more than we should for our children’s safety is definitely the most ideal thing to do. As the saying goes, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Conventionally Grown Cotton Is Damaging

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Organic Cotton BeddingTwo years ago, there were massive toy recalls and concerned parents have begun asking questions. People started thinking whether or not children’s toys are safe, if the same thing goes for children’s beddings and clothes. Lead-laden toys should definitely be out of a child’s reach but it’s time to scrutinize what our children eat, feel, touch and wear in their daily lives. Even cotton is no longer safe for our children and it used to be the natural fiber of choice.

Clothing made of cotton retains harmful toxic residues that cause eczema, rashes and other skin irritations. Organically grown cotton, though, is a different story. Organic cotton bedding and other organic baby clothes are made of pure, natural and breathable fiber.

Nowadays, conventionally grown cotton is one of the most environmentally damaging crops in the world because it results in water pollution and calamitous effects on wildlife. Aside from that it also causes chronic illness in farm workers, since 25 percent of the world’s chemical insecticides are being used. This also results in 25 to75 million agricultural workers suffering from acute pesticide poisoning.

Because insects develop a resistance towards pesticides over time, farmers find ways to modify harsher insect repellents which end up in the air, soil and plants. These chemicals will eventually end up in our children’s bodies if we do not use eco friendly products.

Organic Skin Care for Babies

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

Skin care products are one of the most important organic baby products for your child aside from organic baby clothes and green toys. Organic skin care is the only logical choice if you don’t want any harsh chemicals or additives around your baby’s skin.

Many of the chemicals in the marketplace have never been tested properly for problems relating to human skin. It’s hard to trust products that do not contain all-natural ingredients especially with animal testing and other sorts of harmful testing options occurring. Organic skin care for your child puts the trust back in the purchasing and allows the consumer to make educated choices so as to know what ingredients have been used as well as to be assured that they do not contain harmful chemicals.

Organic baby products offer a much needed respite from the problems of chemical reactions. With chemicals being ubiquitous, it’s nice to know that there are companies and manufacturers that still care about the environment and the health of our children. We should all choose companies that put our children’s health and welfare before their profits.

Reasons to Use Organic Cloth Diapers

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Greeno Bambino Calming Diaper Rash CreamA long time ago, the only option mothers had when it came to their baby’s diapers was cloth. Now, it is a lot harder to pick out which brand is the best for babies. Debates on disposables versus cloth came about and today, there are numerous mothers who choose green baby products and organic cloth diapers for babies.

Organic cloth is the best type of diapers a mother can buy for her child. One of the basic reasons that parents are going organic nowadays is because natural baby products means comfort for the baby. Mothers are tired of the rashes and other skin irritations that disposable diapers leave on their children. Cloth diapers rub less and remain more comfortable for toddlers as well.
The second reason is finances. Parents want to spend their time and money enjoying their children instead of making trips to purchase diapers on a regular basis. They don’t have to budget for diapers if they just buy it once and are all set. Families with more than one child also benefit the most because they can reuse the same diapers.

More chemicals and other substances are harming our children than ever before. Organic diapers are a healthier option and can reduce the risk of an allergic reaction. They are made with eco friendly products and are therefore a healthier option most especially for infants.

Instead of piling disposable diapers in our local landfill, we end up doing something positive for the world we all live in. Despite the type or style of diaper we decide to use, going with organic baby products will enhance our life considerably.

Heads Up on BPA

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Non Toxic Sippy CupsBisphenol-A or BPA is a substance used in the production of polycarbonate plastics that has estrogenic properties. It has been proven through various test and research that BPA can cause a host of health problems. Manufacturers and parents start catching on to the idea that safer plastics and even non-plastic materials can be used to make attractive and durable bpa free baby bottles and non toxic sippy cups.

A lot of everyday products are made with chemicals that may disrupt people’s endocrine system. The problem is that many chemicals mimic hormones and they attach to receptors, causing cell division, altered gene expression and other harmful changes. Endocrine disruptors have been blamed for playing a role in autism, immune problems, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), diabetes, obesity, cancer, earlier puberty and infertility.

Most plastic baby bottles and sippy cups are made from BPA and these can also cause developmental problems to children. One idea that can keep babies and children away from BPA is breastfeeding, using glass bottles, or simply investing in non toxic sippy cups and bpa free baby bottles.
